Prem Ras Siddhant

An important excerpt from the 1st edition of Prem Ras Siddhant. In these pages, Shri Maharaj Ji explains the three classes of spiritual aspirants who tread on the path of devotion.

"The individual who is neither too attached nor is he too detached from the world; such an individual (aspirant) is worthy to tread on the path of devotion. There are three classes of such aspirants:

1. Best Class of Aspirants

The aspirant who is well versed in scriptural knowledge (the essence) and is logically firm in its philosophy. He has unbreakable faith. This type of sadhak is best deserving of treading on path of devotion. This class of aspirants do not sway when they are exposed to 'kusang'. They continuously progress on their path of devotion.

2. Medium Class of Aspirants

This second class of aspirant does not possess logical knowledge of the scriptures, however they possess immense faith. Because their philosophy is not firm, these aspirants have a chance of downfall if met with 'kusang', as they are standing only on the base of faith. But if they are never exposed to kusang, these aspirants will reach their ultimate aim merely on the basis of their immense faith! However, exposure to kusang will lead to their downfall, as it will make their mind doubtful which will demotivate them.

3. Lower Class of Aspirants

These class of aspirants possess some faith, yet they are totally devoid of any philosophical knowledge. Since they neither possess scriptural knowledge nor strong faith, these type of aspirants are in constant danger of downfall. If they are met with the slightest kusang, they will fall from their path.

Thus, spiritual aspirants must strengthen their philosophical knowledge and understand logically. They must also continuously practice to increase their faith.
